Be the Change You Wish to See in the World

Occupied Union Square, 6:48 p.m.

As much media, & as many tourists & looky-lous as protestors, 6:50 p.m.

Misspelled, true, but the sentiment is there. 6:50 p.m.

& this is what a growing NYPD presence across the street

"Free" Sunsets @ New Museum

Lisa Oppenheim's 35-mm slideshow projection, The Sun is Always Setting Somewhere Else (2006) is a sublime highlight of FREE at The New Museum.
Like the 22 other artists in the show, Oppenheim appropriates digital ephemera from online, in this case, sunsets in Iraq taken by U.S. soldiers and posted on Flickr, and incorporates it into her non-virtual 35-mm slideshow, which clicks away softly against a white wall, capturing their photos of the sun going down against her ocean horizon . . . Go see FREE . . . it's up until January 23, 2011.
